African World Festival - Our Blood Matters

BloodCenter of Wisconsin and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are partnering to host the “Our Blood Matters” special exhibit during African World Festival.

Attendees can learn about prevalent health issues in the African-American community including:

• Receiving blood pressure and glucose screenings provided by Milwaukee Health Services
• Ask questions of local medical experts
• Receive a complimentary tote bag
• Join the organ and tissue and marrow registries
• Learn more donorship
• Make an appointment to donate blood

Our Blood MattersThe exhibit theme, "Our Blood Matters", aims to highlight the importance of African American patients receiving blood transfusions and organ and marrow transplantations from African American donors. Transplant success rates increase when the transplants originate from someone with the same ethnicity.
