SBB Lecture: Hypercoagulable States and DIC

The pathology, laboratory investigation, and clinical presentation of venous thrombosis defects and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) will be investigated in depth. The cause of inhibition of coagulation will also be examined.

The response to vascular injury including the vascular response, thrombosis, and fibrinolysis including the function and inhibition of the factors and co-factors and their respective pathways will be examined. The pathology, clinical presentation, laboratory findings, complications, and therapy associated with various bleeding disorders as well as routine screening tests for hemostasis will be investigated.
