Topics include studies in:
  • Transfusion medicine
  • Stem cell biology and hematopoeisis
  • Immunobiology
  • Thrombosis, hemostasis and vascular biology
The Medical Sciences Institute (MSI) coordinates several clinical research seminars and lectures throughout the year. The group includes a variety of physicians, clinical investigators, Transfusion Medicine fellows, Clinical Trial & Research Office staff, and other BloodCenter of Wisconsin department staff. Topics are related to hematology and hematologic disorders, with a particular focus on proposed or ongoing clinical research.
The Mosesson Lecture on Thrombosis, established by Michael W. Mosesson, M.D., Senior Investigator at the Blood Research Institute, brings an outstanding researcher in thrombosis medicine to BRI each year. The Aster Lecture, presented annually, has historically brought a prominent researcher in the field of platelet biology to BRI. This lecture is presented in honor of Dr. Richard H. Aster who served as President and CEO of the former Milwaukee Blood Center for 26 years prior to his current role as a Senior Investigator at BRI.
